Music Video Iconography:

Rap

As earlier discussed we have chosen Post Malone's Go Flex and this falls into the Hip-Hop and rap genre's and with this comes a large iconography we will have to follow to make it fall properly into that category of music.

The Hip-Hop genre is most popular among young adults and teens and because off this has a very distinctive iconography for music videos. Hip-Hop consists of sampled beats overlapped with an artist rapping. The setting for these videos is often in urban locations and built up areas with tall buildings with graffitti on the walls, many low angled shots are used to present the artist as superior and along with this they are usually dressed in expensive branded clothing and show this all of to show everyone how rich and successful they are. The videos tend to have a strong narrative  which follows on from the song. Many Hip-Hop Shots stereotypically have the lead artist and have them in lots of clubs with them smoking, drinking alcohol and doing drugs, showing off the rich and desired lifestyle

Although Malone's music is still Hip-Hop it has a ver different feel and vibe to it, this means the video may not follow all the stereotypical iconography associated with Hip-Hop, for example. the beat is much slower and this can be accompanied with slower paced shots in the video and slow motion action shots, but also will have to follow lots of the ideologies associated with Hip-Hop.
